Welcome to my portfolio!
I'm Nicole-Marie, a student journalist and college student in the Sunflower State. Storytelling has run in my blood ever since I was a 12-year-old girl calling publishers in New York City in an attempt to get my novel published. This portfolio, which I first created as editor-in-chief of an award-winning high school newspaper, named me the 2019 Kansas Student Journalist of the Year and 2019 National High School Student Journalist of the Year Runner-Up. In the spring of 2020, I worked as a news reporter at the University Daily Kansan, the student publication of the University of Kansas, covering Student Senate. Currently, I am working as social media and communications assistant for the University of Kansas Department of Chemistry.
I aim for my work to change the world around me. Every tear shed, every revision made and every interview completed has been so worth it.
This website is a compilation of my best work in journalism to date. Enjoy.
As social media and communications assistant at the University of Kansas Department of Chemistry, I started a faculty series featuring faculty members, their research and the significance of their work. Above is one of my interviews with Dr. Steven Soper, a professor within the Department who led a group of graduate students to create an at-home COVID-19 test.
